Dominica Opens Up Travel to China

The Commonwealth of Dominica Opens Up Travel to China recently signed a remarkable visa-waiver agreement with the People’s Republic of China further strengthening the relationship between Beijing and Roseau. Prime Minister of Dominica Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit and Chinese Ambassador Lin Xinjiang signed the agreement in the presence of Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs Kenneth Darroux and several officials from both countries.

“China does not allow visa-free [access] for many passport holders, and they have given that privilege to the Dominican passport of all categories. So, it’s a major plus,” said Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

The Caribbean island has been working steadily towards enhancing its diplomatic ties worldwide, and signing a major visa-waiver agreement with China is a major milestone. Dominica passport holders will be able to travel back and forth to one of the world’s biggest economies without requiring a visa, enabling more travel opportunities for both business and leisure.
Dominica and China established diplomatic relations back in 2004. The two countries have enjoyed strong bilateral relations since and constantly collaborate in culture, education, and health.

China continues to provide state scholarships and human resources training programs, in addition to investing in Dominica’s health sector. The Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) is one of the finest medical facilities in the Eastern Caribbean. Nicknamed the “Nature Isle of the Caribbean”, Dominica has become an attractive destination for investors looking for travel freedom, thanks to its flexible passport program and high standards of living.

Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Program allows investors and their families to obtain a second citizenship with all the associated benefits once a contribution is made to the nation’s government fund or real estate.
Dominica is arguably the most breathtaking island in the Caribbean, with a diverse blend of English, French, African, and Caribbean cultures.
